The story of Ma Yenko is situated in the Caribbean. Where the English, the Spanish, the Portuguese, the French and the Dutch ruled in times of colonialism.This era in time had a great impact on people living there. An impact that still has its influence nowadays.
I’m the grand daughter of the main character in this novel. Good to know is that facts are combined with my memories, my fantasy and my inspiration. With that combination it became a good-read. Says my Dutch publisher. And I hear that from a lot of my Dutch readers:
